If you’re new to Rainbow Snippets, it’s a Facebook group where authors of LGBTQ fiction post a six-sentence snippet (or there abouts) from a WIP, a published story, or a recommendation, every weekend. You can see all the snippets here.
This week… a little something from the penultimate Alphas’ Homestead story, featuring a grown up Tad and lots of changes to our found family. A little longer than six sentences but I love this snippet too much chop it off too soon.
“You need a hand with that?” Thaddeus hated how he sounded so nervous. He realized too late that he probably looked it as well, with his hands pressed deep into his pockets and his shoulders slumped forward. It was too much to ask that his nerves might dissipate after spending the night in Samuel’s arms, but clearly that wasn’t the case.
When he had roused himself in the morning to find Samuel already awake and watching him sleep, a sense of peace had come over him, one he’d never experienced in his life. Suddenly many things made sense to him that hadn’t before. The way his fathers looked at each other sometimes, and the way their mutual affection had never wavered. That soft innocent smile that seemed so out of place on Seth’s face when he looked at Malcolm. Perhaps it had struck Thaddeus so profoundly because he had never felt an attraction to anyone else before, even in passing. But whatever the reason, he’d known in that moment it would be impossible to give up.”
