Rainbow Snippets – 02.09.17

LoSCover2

If you’re new to Rainbow Snippets, it’s a Facebook group where authors of LGBTQ fiction post a six-sentence snippet of a WIP, a published story, or a recommendation, every weekend. You can see all the snippets here.

This week’s snippet is from Longing for Shelter. A little Jacob, Caleb and Thaddeus for your weekend ♥

Jacob watched them, an empty, aching hole opening up inside him. He was perhaps the only one who truly knew the difference between the broken, lost Alpha who had settled in this small community all those years ago—alone and isolated from everyone—, and the man that sat in front of him now—a father, a husband, the man who had built this house and built a family from nothing. Jacob’s heart ached. “I can’t believe they would treat you that way. Especially after all these years.”
Caleb smiled. He rocked Thaddeus one more time then kissed his hair and set him down on the ground. The snuffling boy waddled over to Jacob and collapsed in his lap. Caleb watched Jacob pick Thaddeus up and cradle him against his chest, saying, “You’re a good hearted soul, Jacob, so you expect everyone to be the same. You shouldn’t take it personally. I know I won’t.”

This is just a quickie to say WHOOHOO!

If you’re new to Rainbow Snippets, it’s a Facebook group where authors of LGBTQ fiction post a six-sentence snippet of a WIP, a published story, or a recommendation, every weekend. You can see all the snippets here.

This week’s snippet is from Longing for Shelter OUT NOW…well, on Payhip anyway. Amazon and B&N coming soon.
In which Ephraim and Seth have a heart-to-heart as only two teenage boys can.

********

“What about you? You sure talk like you’ve made someone’s bed bang the wall.”
“Not a bed.” Seth grimaced, especially when he saw Ephraim’s scandalized expression and felt the heat rising in his own cheeks. “I mean, I’ve had kisses and more than kisses, much more but—I haven’t—I mean I haven’t done—that. Other stuff. Just not…”
To his surprise, Ephraim simply nodded and said, “Good,” and added quietly, “Means you have something to offer your mate. When you find him.”
Seth nodded shyly, but then looked up, his head tilted. “What makes you think my mate would be a man?”
Ephraim laughed. “You’re not as subtle as you think, city boy.”

Autism Awareness Month 2017 – RJ Scott’s Blog Hop

aaFB

When I saw RJ had picked the theme of animals for this year’s Autism blog hop, my first thought was actually feeling a little sorry for you guys. Coz I when I hear animals, I think dogs. Because dogs are one of my special interests* Which means I figured I would end up blathering on about dogs to you for ages…and ages and ages and ages.

So in an effort not to bore y’all to death and for this blog post to not go on forever I was trying to think about how I could narrow it down. Which isn’t easy. But then I was thinking about when I went for a diagnostic meeting with a specialist about my ASD and I mentioned I had a dog and the doctor seemed almost relieved and very enthusiastic about it. I was telling her how I found it much easier to relate to dogs than people and she told me that wasn’t uncommon amongst people on the spectrum.

Love Bytes Book of the Year Poll

IMG_1996

Holy Moly! Home Is Where You Are made it through to the 2016 Book of the Year Poll on Love Bytes Reviews. Which is amazing!

It was properly gobsmacking to make it through the weekly and monthly rounds, so to see Caleb and Jacob’s story up with all those other fantastic books at the end of the year is kinda crazy.

Obviously, if you would like to vote, that would be lovely. You can click Here, but mostly, I just wanted to say thank you.

Thank you to everyone who has bought, read and reviewed any of my books in 2016, thank you to everyone at Love Bytes who have been so supportive of my new venture, and thank you to everyone who voted for Home last year.

You guys are the best.

“I’m sorry if I embarrassed you and Pa.” Ephraim didn’t meet his eyes, instead picked at a loose thread on the pillowcase.
Caleb took hold of the boy’s chin and raised it up, making him face him. “You could never be an embarrassment to me or Jacob, Ephraim. I’m so very proud of the way you stood up for Mal. And for Tad too.”
Ephraim grimaced. “Oh Lord, I did, didn’t I? Your Pa must think I’m an idiot.”
Caleb smirked and planted a kiss on Ephraim’s temple.

Caleb laughed, and pushed his hands between Jacob’s thighs. “Oh, absolutely not with Ben. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but he’s not my type.”

A small smile played on Jacob’s lips. Propping himself up to mirror Caleb’s position, he brought his mouth close to Caleb’s and whispered, “So, is that why you’ve brought me here, Mr. Fletcher? To act out your teenage fantasies?”

Caleb swallowed hard and licked his lips. “Christ, I wish you would. I really wish you would.”

Paperbacks…finally!

It’s taken me far longer than it should have, but I finally managed to navigate Createspace and get the paperback edition of Home Is Where You Are up on Amazon. Fingers crossed, the edition looks okay –– although the cover turned out a little darker than shown online –– but if there are any issues you know where I am x

Jacob snorted as the rocking carriage made their interlocked legs bump together. He looked across at his mate and tilted his head. “I believe your exact words were, Let me take you home to be married, Jacob. It’ll be romantic, Jacob. The pups will behave I promise, Jacob.”

Caleb huffed out a laugh. “Yeah, well. I don’t remember you having any objections at the time.”

“Well, given what you were doing to me at the time, you could have hardly expected otherwise.”

Blummin’ ‘eck, Rainbow Snippet time already! If you’re new to Rainbow Snippets, it’s a Facebook group where authors of LGBTQ fiction post a six-sentence snippet of a WIP, a published story, or a recommendation, every weekend. You can see all the snippets here.

This week, a few lines from the first draft of Returning Home, the follow up to Home Is Where You Are. The boys are getting ready for dinner.

Caleb sighed and rubbed at his beard. “Is it ridiculous that I’m worrying I’ve forgotten which fork to use? I remember there being more than one but not for what purpose.”

Jacob balled up his shirt and threw it on the bed. He stepped forward and took hold of Caleb’s hand. Placing it flat on his bare, taut stomach, Jacob guided Caleb’s touch up the trail of pale hair that ran from his crotch to his broad chest, then up to his neck. As Caleb wrapped his fingers around Jacob’s throat, licking his lips and shuddering out a breath as he did so, Jacob asked, “You were saying something about forks?”

Caleb shook his head and sighed. “It doesn’t matter.” He tightened his grip and pulled Jacob up to kiss him. “I’ll just eat with my fingers.”
