Rainbow Snippets – 23.02.19

If you’re new to Rainbow Snippets, it’s a Facebook group where authors of LGBTQ fiction post a six-sentence snippet (or there abouts) from a WIP, a published story, or a recommendation, every weekend. You can see all the snippets here.

This week… a little something from the final Alphas’ Homestead book coming on the 8th March, which tells Ephraim’s story, from when he arrives in Lastford to the conclusion of the series. In this snippet, Ephraim is 12 and Joshua is 13 and takes place just before Returning Home.

They rested there for a second, looking up at the wispy clouds scudding across the blue sky then Ephraim felt Joshua’s arm move toward him. He was about to brace for a punch but instead, Joshua took his hand and laced their fingers together.
“Who will I fight with when you’re gone?” Joshua said quietly, almost as if he wasn’t talking to Ephraim at all.
Something in Ephraim’s gut twisted. “I hope you don’t fight with anyone,” he whispered. “Can’t you wait until I get back?”
“I guess I’ll have to.” Joshua sighed and wiped at his eyes again. “You’re the best friend I ever had.”
Ephraim warmed inside and had to smile. “You’re the only friend I ever had.”
