January Recap – It’s a long cold winter…

Don’t know if I’ll do this every month…I’ll see how it goes. It’s as much an aide to my ever-dwindling recall as much as to amuse you guys.
Oh, and anyone who gets the movie reference can claim a free ebook, if they want one! (don’t comment if you know it, email me so everyone can play, ‘kay?)

New release – Glitter Fixes Everything

Glitter Fixes Everything is out today!

Christmas has come a little early, I guess <3 I was anticipating the book being out tomorrow but with everything being a little screwy this time of year, you can grab it today on Amazon or read it in Kindle Unlimited!

This one is following up on Justin from the first Christmas Fixes Everything book, Tinsel Fixes Everything, quite a few years later when he’s home from college for the Holiday season, and runs into an old friend aka the love of his life. Because who doesn’t love a second chance story around the holidays?

It’s short and sweet, mostly as that’s what I love to read myself around this time of year, and I hope you like it! I love Justin, and Roman is such a sweetie…it was definitely not a hardship to write this book.

I wrote a little something about sequels and my inability to let go for Diverse Reader that you can check out here, but I will say, there will be one more book following the Meadows Boys next year. Specifically Tyler who, Lord knows, needs a happy ending. I have lots to say about why he’s such a grumpy so-and-so and why he’s sad around the holidays…will there be a second chance involved? Bet your Santa’s hat there will be!

But for now I’ll leave you with Justin and Roman and all the Festive cheer you can fit in your elf suit <3

Hope you have a wonderful December!

(Oh and if you want to see more of these two…well, let’s just say that following the Rainbow Advent Calendar is a great way to get free stories this winter…just saying)

Sunday Check In – Week 32

Less of a week review than a random check-in as the last ten days have been a bit full and inevitably I lost my thread in terms of keeping a handle on my life.

Halloween Scare Trail 2018

I’m not a winter person. I could do summer all year round. Or at least that’s what I tell myself .

But then autumn rocks up with her cosy sweaters and hot chocolate and leaf-strewn walks…and I kinda like it. Takes me while to accept the warm days are gone, but once the pumpkins come out, I’m pretty much sold on the idea of Halloween in all its guises.

Rainbow Snippets – 16.09.18

If you’re new to Rainbow Snippets, it’s a Facebook group where authors of LGBTQ fiction post a six-sentence snippet (or there abouts) of a WIP, a published story, or a recommendation, every weekend. You can see all the snippets here.

This week, something from an old story but a new release, coming soon…probably next week…probably. Might be best to subscribe to my newsletter if you’d like some more definite news. I’m nervous about this one so let’s see how it goes. In this snippet, Alec and Jack meet under less than perfect circumstances.

******

Initially, Jack was dead weight. Alicia tried to push him upright while Alec tugged on his sleeves but Jack wasn’t budging. Alec knew if they could just get him to sit up it would be much easier, so he somehow scrambled onto the backseat, straddled Jack and leaned in right over him. It wasn’t easy, but he managed to get one foot in the foot well and then crammed the other knee between Jack’s thigh and the back of the seat. He could feel his skin flush pink and told himself that it was the exertion and nothing more. Alec cupped a hand around Jack’s neck, sliding his fingers into the short hairs at his nape, bunched the other in the shoulder of his hoodie, and pulled gently.
Jack’s eyes flickered open and looked right into Alec’s. Alec could see the sadness and sickness and absolute exhaustion of body and mind. It was an all too familiar pain and he couldn’t help but put his mouth close to Jack’s ear, and whisper, “It’s okay. I’ve got you. Let’s just get inside, okay?”
Jack smiled, so slightly and sadly, Alec almost missed it, but he felt Jack slide a big hand up his back to grasp his shoulder and let Alec slowly lift him, guiding him out of the car and onto his feet.

Newsletter Survey Results

Last month, I ran a survey about newsletters. I want to be a bit better about using my mailing list and figured there was little point in sending them out if I wasn’t providing the kind of content that people wanted to see.

I kept it simple using only five questions and incentivized it with a $/£10 gift card giveaway. Hopefully, you will find the results as interesting as I did.

I’ll put a tl:dr version of the results at the bottom of the page if you just want a summary of the findings.

Win a Giftcard!

I’m looking to get a bit more organized with my newsletter this year and I figure the best way to do that is to ask readers what they like from a newsletter. So, answer the five questions below (or here if you can’t see the survey) and a you can have a chance at winning a giftcard! Easy peasy! And Thank you! ♥

Too lazy to blog…

So, I made this when I was tired and full of cold. I thought about tidying it up—trying to be sensible and not looking like I’ve been dragged through a hedge backwards after not sleeping for a week, or maybe just brushing my hair—but then I thought…meh…might as well start as I mean to go on. I’m a rambling mess most of the time, no reason I should try to be someone I’m not. I will try to get a stand to stop that camera wiggle though for next time.

Anyway…

***The newsletter mentioned should be coming out at about 8pm (GMT+1) tonight. Keep your eyes peeled!

Autism Awareness Month 2017 – RJ Scott’s Blog Hop

aaFB

When I saw RJ had picked the theme of animals for this year’s Autism blog hop, my first thought was actually feeling a little sorry for you guys. Coz I when I hear animals, I think dogs. Because dogs are one of my special interests* Which means I figured I would end up blathering on about dogs to you for ages…and ages and ages and ages.

So in an effort not to bore y’all to death and for this blog post to not go on forever I was trying to think about how I could narrow it down. Which isn’t easy. But then I was thinking about when I went for a diagnostic meeting with a specialist about my ASD and I mentioned I had a dog and the doctor seemed almost relieved and very enthusiastic about it. I was telling her how I found it much easier to relate to dogs than people and she told me that wasn’t uncommon amongst people on the spectrum.

5stars Gayle Offerjost! 5stars

Congrats to Gayle and thank you to everyone that took part : ) x

I’m doing a giveaway as part of Victoria Sue’s Release Party on Facebook for her new book, The Beginning. I’ll be online there between 9-9.30 pm BST tonight chatting about werewolves and stuff, and answering questions about Home Is Where You Are and The Alphas’ Homestead series, so come and say Hi!

To celebrate me finally managing to get actual printed books made, I’ll be giving away a paperback copy of Home Is Where You Are. I suppose I can even sign it for the winner…if you want. I’ll also throw in some other bits and pieces of swag too.

All you have to do to enter is leave me a comment on this post.

That’s it.

Then tomorrow (I’ll give it 24 hours so 9pm BST Friday), I’ll use a random number generator to pick a winner, and announce it…everywhere.

While you wait, you could always sign up to the newsletter with the widget at the bottom of the page. That way you can take part in more giveaways, get exclusive news and offers.

Or you could check out the Home Is Where You Are page for buy links, info, reviews and whatnot.

Or take a look at some of the things in the menu, like blurbs for future books or free stories.

Or, of course, you could drop by the release party to ask a question...or if you miss it, there’s a facility on Goodreads where you can do that any time : ) x

On Value and Creativity

So, the other week when social media was blowing up because some asshat thought it would be a good idea to blatantly disrespect every author on the planet by asking which pirate sites were best to illegally download books, I had a thinky thought while I was out walking my dog.

You’re gonna have to bear with me. I’m gonna ramble. This is a little incoherent but there’s a point in here somewhere.

Click for rambling, ranting and a fair bit of swearing
